Hi I am Ellis. I started playing the guitar when I was 12 and on my 13th birthday I had my first lesson with Martyn (1994 I THINK!). I had 3 years with him but never took music GCSE or learned much theory, which is why I never did any teaching myself. Plus the fact that I never do anything in music that I do not want to do.
When I first started playing, I could not wait to get home from school to start playing, often for hours at a time. I find writing music really exciting! I have been playing constantly in bands always with a mind on writing original material. I have been in many local bands inc. Abiotic, Tinsletown Rebellion, Bodiesel, Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle, Elm Tree Row to name a few. More recently, I have been playing with Resistance 77 (punk) and Ferocious Dog (folk rock).
Martyn gave me the chance to become a very versatile player.
I have lost count of the amount of albums and songs I have recorded. I have played in England, Scotland, Wales, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, USA and Dubai. Supported many famous bands, played at many great festivals and venues in front of thousands of people. Played main stage at Rock City a few times.
Over the last few years I have found a certain passion for all things string and have started playing Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin and the Bouzouki. However, just when I think I am getting a bit good, I see the Chrome Dome play (Martyn) and it brings me back down to earth.
Just a quick line from the old teacher: Ellis has become a hard working musician. He has really trodden the boards from a young age. he has wealth of experience and has played on some stages including Glastonbury. Seeing him now and seeing what he has achieved over the last 20 plus years has made me really proud.
Well done Ellis!
